I forgot to post about this on here, but I’ve consolidated my two blogs into one and you can find it here: http://mojophotos.tumblr.com
Check it out and follow!!!
Danny, sound checking for our “YouTube Presents” performance.
So yesterday we played at the Cranmore Maintain Resort at the foot of a ski slope (North Conway, NH). After sound check we took a ride on the ski lifts to the top, chilled out for a bit, saw a frog, enjoyed the views and then came back down.
Oh and we played an awesome show to some lovely people too!
We finished our “stripped down” set with Danny and Aimee singing a song on their own last night…
My setup vs. Brendan (Josh Radin’s guitarist)’s setup.
I think I win on comfort with my plush chair, but I’m seriously behind when it comes to cool stuff. So much cool stuff…
Brendan has his own band by the way, featuring his lovely wife Anne and they are pretty awesome so check them out: http://hellomynameisyou.com/
Had some excellent cupcakes in Homewood, Alabama!
What is with your pizza Chicago?
I’m sorry - I just don’t get it. It’s all upside down with too much cheese and not enough crispiness. When I tell people back in the UK that THIS is what pizza is actually like here, they can’t believe it because it is NOTHING like the frozen “Chicago Town” pizza from the supermarket. I hate to play favourites here but New York has you beat.
Answer:
Nope. I didn’t know anything about the event until the day before I played it, so I originally thought I was opening at the Military Park event because it was the only one listed on Scars’ website. It turned out that I played three shows that day and one of them was three half-hour sets on my own in Carmel! It was a bit exhausting to say the least, especially in that heat. I didn’t even find the time to eat lunch or dinner so probably shouldn’t shouldn’t have drunk quite so much vodka that night…
We stopped VERY briefly in Chicago yesterday. I snapped these as I went to get myself lunch and then got outta there. I wish I could’ve stayed longer!
It’s all good though coz we’re back to play at Schubas tomorrow night!
Aimee and Nova biking in Indianapolis
Matt’s rock tip:
So you’re playing in a small club or something and your guitar tone sounds kinda muffled and crappy coz the amp is pointed at the back of your legs? Steal some rocks from outside (I think I got my chipped rock and half a broken brick from somewhere in Mississippi) and then tip your amp back until it’s almost pointed right at your head! My amp case even has a handy strap that runs over the top of my amp and allows for a gravity-defying angle of lean!
PS. I apologise for the awful pun at the start of this post.
I’m a lucky guy.
If you were wondering: That’s a Vox AC30 with a Fender Telecaster on the left with noiseless pickups, heavy strings and a rather stylish chrome scratchplate, and a Fender Classic Player Jaguar with two humbuckers and the option for fading between the full humbucking pickups and single coils for extra awesome tone options.
